GreenBnb is a travel themed UI based on AirBnb and the Green Book, a historically important document. The Green Book let black travelers know where they could and could not stay in the Jim Crow South. GreenBnb hooks up users with the best travel accomodations, with options to stay in tmeshares, provided homes and bed and breakfasts.

A Short History Lesson

In the 1960s, traveling South to see family was a gamble. As an African American, you might find yourself stopping at a restroom without Colored bathrooms, or wandering into a “sundown town” after dark. In order to avoid these pitfalls, Americans would buy the Green Book, which listed safe havens throughout the South.  Watch this short clip to learn more about the Green Book and its’ role in American history.
